The Hong Kong Polytechnic University & Hong Kong Unison.

Page 99:

EMB should develop a systematic and developed curriculum from primary to secondary schools to help ethnic minority students sit for GSCE Chinese examination...The EMB should review existing Chinese curriculum and develop a Chinese subject suitable for non-Chinese students.

Another important factor affecting ethnic minority students’ desire of learning Chinese in school is the teachers’ attitudes.... students said their Chinese teachers did not take their Chinese classes seriously, we advise that teachers take a more serious approach in teaching ethnic minority students the Chinese language, which is important to them for their everyday needs and future development.
